Cases of HMPV or human metapneumovirus infection which recently broke out in China have reportedly been found in Indonesia. HMPV belongs to a family of viruses called pneumoviridae, the same group as respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). All cases found in Indonesia occurred in children. However, there is no need to worry because HMPV is not a new virus in the medical world and has been spreading around the world since 2001.
