Composition:

Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) 1000 IU (25 mcg)

Presentation:

- Film coated tablet: Box of 3 strips x 10 tablets

Pharmacology:

In its biologically active form, vitamin D stimulates intestinal calcium absorption, incorporation of calcium into the osteoid, and release of calcium from bone tissue. In the small intestine, it promotes rapid and delayed calcium uptake. The passive and active transport of phosphate is also stimulated. In the kidney, it inhibits the excretion of calcium and phosphate by promoting tubular resorption. The production of parathyroid hormone (PTH) in the parathyroids is inhibited directly by the biologically active form of vitamin D. PTH secretion is inhibited additionally by the increased calcium uptake in the small intestine under the influence of biologically active vitamin D.

Usage:

Fulfill the need for vitamin D quickly in certain conditions such as the elderly, pregnant and lactating women, high risk/people with infectious diseases, or people with autoimmune diseases.

Dose:

Once daily 1 film-coated tablet or as directed by a doctor.

Contraindications:

- Patients with hypersensitivity to vitamin D and its analogs or to other components in the formula

- Hypercalcemia and/or hypercalciuria

- Calcium nephrolithiasis, nephrocalcinosis, hypervitaminosis D

- Severe renal damage and renal failure

Warning and Precautions:

- Check blood vitamin D levels after 6 (six) months of use or more

- Consult a doctor for use in pregnant and lactating women

- Discontinue use if allergy symptoms occur

- Take calcium according to the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) to avoid hypercalcemia

Adverse Reactions :
