Metamizole/dipyrone/methampyrone has an analgesic, antispasmodic, antipyretic effect, but has a weak anti-inflammatory effect. It works by inhibiting the formation of prostaglandin E2, not by inhibiting arachidonic acid metabolism like NSAIDs.
