In aesthetic medicine, botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A) is known as a neuromodulator to treat dynamic facial wrinkles and provide a lifting effect. BoNT-A inhibits acetylcholine, affects conditions such as hyperhidrosis and sialorrhea, and plays a role in skin health through the regulation of keratinocytes, sebum, and inflammation.

Dr. Woffles Wu developed the microtoxin technique, originally called mesobotox, which uses smaller droplets for aesthetic effects without total paralysis. This technique is effective for the improvement of rosacea, acne, and fine wrinkles. Today, with many brands of BoNT-A, “microtoxin treatment” has become an appropriate term. The expanded use of BoNT-A offers an attractive, minimally invasive solution with a high level of patient satisfaction.

Microtoxin is a treatment approach that differs from standard intramuscular injections, where diluted BoNT-A is injected into the intradermal layer throughout the area to be improved to provide an even effect on motor nerves, sympathetic nerves and other cellular pathways. This technique requires a sufficient number of injections in the right areas, for example neck treatment may require 200 microdroplet injections while a full face may require up to 500 injections. The technique is quite flexible, with certain areas of the face requiring fewer injection points. With its ability to address a range of issues from fine wrinkles to skin luster and texture, many patients benefit from microtoxin treatment, and the technique has even surpassed traditional injection techniques in the treatment of dynamic wrinkles. Microtoxin is also highly beneficial in surgical practices for managing incision scars and wounds.

Conclusion:

The use of BoNT-A may become more widespread, improving skin quality and overall skin appearance. In addition, microtoxin can be used to reduce pore size, sebum production, rosacea, acne, and fine wrinkles, and improve jaw and neck definition. (KDA)
